At least four rescue workers have died after a powerful typhoon hit the populous Philippine island of Luzon. Another person is missing.

Super typhoon Typhoon 'Noru' had sustained winds of 240 kilometers per hour (149 mph) when it hit on Sunday night (Sept 25), the country's disaster agency said.
According to the British media BBC, Noru is the strongest storm to hit the Philippines this year. The storm hit about 80 kilometers (50 miles) northeast of Manila, home to 1.3 million people, on Sunday night local time.

Government offices have been closed to avoid the devastation of Cyclone Noru. More than 74,000 people have already been evacuated. More residents are being evacuated.
