A lottery winner in India has said that since winning the jackpot, so many people have asked for help that he now regrets winning the lottery.

Anup, an auto driver from the southern Indian state of Kerala, reported the BBC. He won the state government's lottery of Rs 25 crore this month.

But a week later, Anoop posted a video on social media, asking strangers to stop harassing him and his family.

He said, it would be better if I didn't win. He thinks third prize is better than this.

Anup also said in the video that the over-enthusiast is considering changing his residential address to avoid public attention.

Anup came into the headlines after winning the lottery. He bought the ticket on September 17. Then migrated to Malaysia for work. Later got the news of winning the lottery. Then his family gained prominence in the media.

Anup said, when I got the news of winning the lottery, I was very happy. The whole family was happy to see so many people and cameras at home. But the situation soon went out of control.

He also said, I cannot live in that house. I can't go anywhere. My child is sick. But I can't go to the doctor.

Anup will be paid Rs 15 crore after deducting Rs 10 crore as tax. But people have been coming to Anup's house every morning since the news of winning the lottery came out.

He said, I have told everyone - I have not received any 'money' yet. No one understands my problem. It doesn't matter to them how many times I have said this.

Anup and his family are now living with a relative to avoid embarrassment. The state government said Anup would be given a one-day training on financial management; This workshop will be conducted so that he can make good use of money.
