Maryam Nawaz acquitted from the mooted corruption case

Pakistan Muslim League Vice President Maryam Nawaz was acquitted of the corruption case. The High Court of Islamabad also acquitted Maryam Swami Muhammad Safdar in this case of assisting father Nawaz Sharif in buying a luxury apartment. Dawn's news.

It is known that Maryam can be a candidate in any election of the country as she is exempted from this case. Speaking to the media after Thursday's verdict, Maryam Nawaz said no other leader in Pakistan's history had faced as much persecution as her father, which has been proven.
Maryam was sentenced to seven years in prison and her husband to one year for helping Pakistan's three-time former prime minister Baba Nawaz Sharif buy a luxury apartment. Nawaz Sharif was sentenced to 10 years imprisonment in the same case.

Nawaz Sharif was granted bail for medical treatment in 2019 after this verdict. After that he went to London and never returned to the country. Apart from this, Maryam Nawaz was also granted bail in 2019.
