The death toll in a school shooting in the Russian city of Izhevsk has risen to 13. Reuters reported on the Russia Investigative Committee on Monday.
According to reports, the cause of the school shooting in Izhevsk, the capital of Udmurtia region, about 970 kilometers east of Moscow, is still unknown.
The Russian Investigative Committee, which is in charge of investigating major incidents, said the attack was carried out by a masked gunman wearing a T-shirt with a Nazi symbol. However, his identity has not been disclosed.
Among the dead are school students, teachers and security guards. According to reports, the gunman committed suicide after carrying out the attack.
An unidentified gunman entered the school and first killed the security guards, the RIA news agency quoted the governor of Udmurtia region, Alexander Brekalov, as saying. Earlier in March 2021, a teenage gunman killed 9 people including 7 children in Kazan, Russia. In April this year, a gunman attacked a kindergarten in central Russia's Ulyanovsk region, killing two children and a teacher. The gunman later committed suicide.
