Hurricane Ian has hit Florida in the United States. The city's governor cited the cyclone-induced flooding as a 500-year record.

Meanwhile, officials have confirmed the first death in the cyclone. Officials in Volusia County, northeast of Orlando, said one person was killed in the tornado.
A press conference on Thursday said the 74-year-old man had gone outside during the storm. He died while digging a hole in his pond.

Earlier, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis said that the flooding caused by the hurricane that hit Florida was the worst in 500 years. The governor of Florida also said that 7,000 rescue workers are conducting operations in the flood-affected areas. 23 people are missing after the migrant ship sank in the cyclone. The US Border Patrol and Coast Guard are looking for them.

According to US media, Ian is one of the top five strongest storms to hit the US.
