Explosion at Russian airbase in Crimea, fire on warplanes

An explosion occurred at the Belbek airport in Crimea. In this incident, a fighter jet caught fire while landing on the runway. According to the Israeli media Jerusalem Post, the incident took place on Saturday in the south of the Crimean Peninsula.

The Russian-appointed governor of Sevastopol, Mikhail Rezvozaev, said the partial munitions at the Sevastopol air base exploded. A plane caught fire on the runway there.
The governor wrote on the Telegram channel that the plane crashed during landing. Some of the ammunition there exploded. However, the pilot managed to escape safely. He said that the fire was extinguished quickly and the infrastructure of the airport was not damaged.

A video circulating on social media showed thick black smoke billowing into the sky. Neither local guerrillas nor Ukrainian forces claimed responsibility for the incident.
