The President of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al-Nahyan has paid a surprise visit to Qatar. According to Turkey-based TRT World, four Saudi-led countries boycotted Qatar for three and a half years in 2017 due to political disputes. In January 2021, the Saudi coalition lifted the boycott.

It should be noted that in 2017, Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates, Bahrain and Egypt announced the severance of all relations with Qatar without prior announcement. At that time they were complaining that Qatar was supporting terrorism. Apart from this, the country has close relations with Iran. But Qatar denied these allegations.

Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan is also the ruler of Abu Dhabi. He visited Doha at the invitation of Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani of Qatar. Football World Cup-2022 is being held in Qatar.

"President Zayed Al Nahyan is visiting Qatar to promote the existing fraternal relations between the two countries and the people of the countries," the UAE's state-owned news agency Wam reported.

Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan is believed to be the "chief architect" of the boycott of Qatar in 2017. At that time, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain and the United Arab Emirates closed air and sea borders to Qatar.
