Sukhvinder Shukhu of Congress took oath as Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh

Congress leader Sukhvinder Sukhu took oath as the Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh, India. A four-time MLA, Sukhu is the 15th Chief Minister of the state.


He took oath under the open sky at Shimla's historic Ridge Maidan at around 1.30 pm on Sunday. Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar administered the oath to 58-year-old Sukhu.


Earlier on Saturday, the former opposition leader of the state, Sukhu, was chosen as the chief minister in the party's legislative assembly meeting.

Sukhu, a law graduate, promised a clean and honest government, saying, "It is my responsibility to fulfill the promises our party made to the people. We wanted to secure power, not just stay in power. We want a change in the system. I have to give some time for that. . We have to work hard, struggle to bring about a new system and new thinking."


Another senior party leader Mukesh Agnihotri took oath as Deputy Chief Minister. Congress MP Rahul Gandhi, party general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, party president Mallikarjun Nai Kharge, Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot, Deputy Chief Minister Sachin Pilot, former central leader Anand Sharma and former Haryana Chief Minister Bhupender Singh Hooda were present at the swearing-in ceremony. .


68 seats in Himachal Pradesh assembly elections on November 12. His count was last December 8. Out of this, Congress won 40 seats, while former ruling party BJP won 25 seats.
