The US says Iran's behavior violates international standards of maritime conduct.
The US military said a boat from Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps Navy (IRGCN) came too close to its warships in the Strait of Hormuz.
A US military statement on Tuesday said that the incident took place on December 5 during a routine patrol through international waters.
The US said the situation was normalized by sounding audible warning signals and using laser beams.
These actions of IRGCN are in violation of international standards of professional and safe maritime conduct, the statement said. There is a risk of miscalculation and conflict. Source: Voice of America.
